For the period from January 2018 till July Russian railways has transported 9.7 mln tons of grain for export. That is almost 1.9 as much as compared with the same period last year. Russian railways report.
At that, the total grain shipments on the Russian railways’ network in the covered period is up by 51.7% and has reached 15.9 mln tons. Leaders of grain shipments are the Saratov region (approx. 1.4 mln tons, 2.5 times growth) as well as the Kursk region, the Tambov region and the Volgograd region.
The positive trend according to the results of 7 months of 2018 has been also observed in the Orenburg region, the Samara region, the Ulyanovsk region, the Novosibirsk region and Penza region.
Previously Russian railways have set a 7.1% discount to the tariffs for export grain shipments from a number of regions which are distant from seaports. Wheat, rye, oat, barley, maize, rice, buckwheat, beans, pea, haricot as well as other grain cargos are subject to the discount. The discount is valid till December 31, 2018 inclusive.
